Mission

Stories for social change.

the "why" behind everything below ↓

I am passionate about storytelling for social change, researching how language impacts society, and finding methods to reduce educational inequities.

  • Linguistics

How the words we use shape who gets heard — and who gets left out.

  • Storytelling

Picture books and film that teach empathy and ethics early.

  • Education Policy

Student-led ideas for closing gaps in educational opportunity.

About me

A writer who can’t stop asking where words come from.

(it involves a lot of dictionaries)

Ritham Janardhan is a high school senior with a strong passion for creative writing, digital media, storytelling for social change, and researching the effects of language on society.

He has authored children’s picture books, research abstracts, personal essays, and opinion editorials on education equity.

  • Hindi · Chāmpo

    shampoo

From chāmpnā, “to press or knead” — it meant a head massage long before it meant a bottle.

  • Sanskrit · Jangala

    jungle

Originally “dry, uncultivated land.” English flipped it into the lush, tangled forest we picture today.

  • Hindi · Banglā

    bungalow

Literally “in the Bengal style” — a one-story thatched house that became a suburban staple.

  • Urdu · Pāy-jāma

    pajamas

“Leg garment,” from Persian pāy (leg) + jāma (clothing). Bedtime, borrowed.
